World Studio 0.10: A look at the beta build
The 0.10 series connects world management, the library and authoring tools through a clearer starting point. A look at the current beta build and the next steps toward the Unity Asset Store.
A shared starting point for the tools
RIFFSOURCE World Studio is growing out of the work on my games as a separate workshop for the Unity Editor. Since 0.5, imports, the library and world authoring have gradually come together. The 0.10 series gives them a new home screen with world management and clearer navigation.
The current build is presented as a beta. Version 0.10.1 already adds an important installation correction: a newer existing installation stays in place even when the website catalog is still older.
Finding assets is part of building
With many assets, placement is only part of the work. Finding the right variant and understanding its classification also take time. The library connects list and tile views, tags, search and staged thumbnails.
Project rules, batch metadata editing and saved collections help establish your own organization. Existing assignments and manually protected decisions remain preserved.
From one object to a connected layout
Selection, painting, transforms and contextual tools form the direct authoring workflow. Groups, assemblies and reusable sections extend it. Snapshots help review changes and restore selected parts.
The tools cover 2D, isometric and 3D layouts. Prefab, Tilemap and portable-kit output paths bring the layout back into its target project.
Deliberate actions and clearer orientation
The new home screen organizes worlds. World and save actions sit together, while settings and update checks are consolidated. Inline search helps locate actions. Library filters have a bounded scrollable area.
Local text catalogs cover German, English, French and Spanish. User data keeps its identities. Saving worlds remains deliberate.
The update endpoint is already live
The website now serves the official update endpoint. Until a package is explicitly approved, it returns a valid empty catalog. An older website catalog is also a normal state: a newer installed version is not offered the same or an older version as an update.
Unity Asset Store installations continue through Unity’s Package Manager and My Assets. Update notices point to the relevant distribution channel; installation remains the user’s decision.
Beta and the next step
The package has been submitted for Unity Asset Store review. Store approval is still pending. The next feedback should show how imports, the library, world management and saving work together in real Unity projects.
