A desktop workspace for PixelLab

The wish for a connected asset workflow is becoming RIFF Pixel Studio: an independent client for Mac and Windows.

Game artwork rarely ends with the first image. A character needs another view, a reference should carry into the next step, and the files eventually need to reach the game project in a useful format. That connection is why I am building RIFF Pixel Studio.

Start from a project

The desktop client is intended to keep drafts, references, requests and results together locally. The official PixelLab API handles generation. The surrounding RIFFSOURCE workspace is intended for macOS and Windows.

I want to reuse a result directly as another reference, the start of an edit or part of an export. Masks, transparency and a pixel-accurate preview belong in that workflow too.

Developed independently, with discussion

I am exchanging feedback and questions with the PixelLab maker. That does not turn it into an official PixelLab product. RIFF Pixel Studio remains an independent, free app; a personal PixelLab account and possible API charges are separate.

The first useful version should demonstrate whether this path works as a whole. After that come the details that separate one successful generation from a dependable tool.
