Assembly Studio: explain more without rebuilding the model

The Mac workspace has come together. Sections, dimensions, technical drawings and custom print pages now extend it, using the same local project as their foundation.

An exploded view explains assembly order. Sometimes the crucial detail is still missing: where does the seal sit inside the closed housing? How far should a part move? Which view belongs on the printed service page? The latest Assembly Studio work addresses these questions within the existing authoring workflow.

Reach the right tools

⌘K brings commands, parts and steps into one search. Side panels can be hidden independently, and focus mode gives the model more space. Search runs in the background and discards results that no longer belong to the open project. This work forms milestone 0.3.

Show the inside too

Milestone 0.4 adds a saved section plane per step and model-linked dimensions. Technical SVG output contains vector lines and text. Parts and cameras can have additional keyframes, making the movement between finished step views easier to explain.

Printed instructions can use custom pages containing text, images, technical views, bills of materials and forms. Manufacturing and service lists can have their own structure. Offline forms return as files that can be checked against the corresponding release snapshot. Local authoring still requires no account.

Accept model changes deliberately

A local CAD handoff prepares exchange with FreeCAD and Fusion. New data is validated before explicit acceptance into the project. The adapters still require acceptance inside the actual vendor applications. Dimensions and geometric checks use imported model geometry; they do not replace exact CAD or manufacturing approval.

A development milestone with clear next steps

0.3 and 0.4 group the two completed expansion rounds for the journal and patch notes. The technical package version remains 0.2.0. Native Mac workflows and the new Chromium cases have been checked; two known cloud-transport cases, VoiceOver, another Mac and public signing and notarisation remain open. A generally approved download is still pending.
