See what is protecting you at a glance
The next RiffBlock interface brings protection status to the front. Everyday settings should be easier to find on Mac, iPhone and iPad.
When an ad appears in Safari, a useful first step is to check what protection is active. That is why the revised interface puts protection status higher up, with everyday settings closer to it. The screen should make sense before you ever need to look through individual filtering rules.
I wanted the two kinds of protection to be easy to tell apart. The Safari extension works on pages in the browser. The separate DNS option affects how domains are resolved and is enabled deliberately in system settings. Each layer can filter different things. DNS sees the domain being requested, for example, while the Safari extension can also hide elements on a page.
Package and feature checks have been completed for the Mac development build. A local development build and a tested DNS service are separate milestones. The public app release is still pending.
