Era 8: Setting out for a new world

The next chapter is planned for 2 November. In Era 8, your holding leaves the familiar Earth behind and starts building its own supply network and industry in a new world. Here is a look at what I have been working on and what comes next.

The next major chapter of Idle Holdings is getting closer. Era 8 – New World is currently planned for 2 November 2026. After the earlier eras, the journey takes you somewhere that needs its own foundations: water, food, energy and room for a growing population.

I have been working on this chapter for quite a while. I want the new world to feel like a fresh stage of building. Much of that work concerns how its businesses support each other and how a first landing gradually becomes a working economy.

Settle in, then grow

Landing analysis is the starting point. Research branches into areas such as solar power, geothermal energy, water recovery and hydroponics. These choices connect: more production needs power and workers, while more people need supplies and housing.

Your outpost develops step by step. New habitats make room, supply becomes more reliable and the first production lines make larger projects possible. You build the foundations for each new stage yourself.

Industry for a new world

As the settlement grows, components, composites and more demanding manufacturing join the picture. Research opens possibilities, businesses provide materials and the Worldwork gives the larger projects a shared direction.

The spaceport is part of that development too. Its missions and resource routes offer further ways to supply your economy. Looking at the whole chain matters: which materials are missing, which production line could improve, and how much power and labour can you spare?

The work before release

Over the past weeks, a lot of work has gone into research paths, clearer descriptions and balancing the economy. The opening with the starting funds and the connections between supplies, production and larger projects have received particular attention.

The remaining work focuses on final checks and refinement. These images come from a development build captured on 15 October; displayed values, durations and details may still change before release.

The target for Era 8 is 2 November 2026. I look forward to seeing the worlds you build from those first facilities.
